Multi-Target Running

One thing I find doign endless MF runs is that I quickly get bored of running the same area over and over again. So in attempt to combat this, I've decided to run multiple targets at once with my Blizzsorc. I'm aware this is not the best thing to do with efficieny wise, but I've never been the world's most efficient runner anyway. This approacxh appeals to me more than 1 million LK runs, followed by 1 million Meph runs followed by 1 million AT runs etc. Thus far I've decided on p8 LK and p1 Meph, AT, and Andy. This gives a nice mix of target gear (runes, charms, gems and jewels from LK, general good quality gear from Meph, jewellery from Andy, and the chance to find anything and everything from AT). 3 Questions:

1) Does anyone else do this?

2) Obviously obtaining perfect maps for all these areas is wishful thinking, so which map is most important to get a good roll on?

3) Are there any other MF areas where a Blizz sorc is any good?

4) If breaking up boredom is my motivation, would I be better off simply questing other characters between stints of running?

(Obviously I'm a member of the Spanish Inquisition.)|||I use Blizzard/Nova and I run Meph/Diablo/Baal/Pindleskin, I can also run Pit/AT/Other lvl 85 areas but I dont like that that much. For only Blizzard it is a bit harder :P

Edit: Also use to switch between p1 and p3, p1 for diablos and 1,2 wave of baals minions rest I use p3 =)|||You could also make 20 MF characters to run every target efficiently. Blizz sorcs can do baal as well, you might want to bring a bonehew or some other source of kill-wavetwo-age.|||I'd say as far as maps go, you should look for 1)two bonfires in LK, 2)good boss density in AT, and 3)a shortish run thru Durance2...I find that teleblitzing thru Cats2&3 is not a problem, so no particular need to get a good roll there...YMMV.

WoRG|||Honestly, I think multi-target running isn't worth it. It's not just the map issue, it's also equipment and build. The more targets you run the more you have to compromise on everything which will probably double your run time.

To counter the boredom of running a target over and over, why not just have several builds for several targets and switch every 100 runs or so? It's much more diverse to play, more efficient and you at least have use for all the stuff you find if you have to equip many builds.

Let's say you keep your Blizz Sorc in LK, build a WW Barb for Pindle and Trav and a Fishymancer for WSK. There are not too many items that you would need twice and even if every one of the three is only equipped with good mid level gear they are probably still more efficient than a single multi-target Sorc with great gear.

Oh, and to answer your questions after this rant:

1. Tried it, but no more.

2. I'd say the map that is most important to you, i.e. where you want the best results. But most likely you'll just have to settle with the first roll that yields at least acceptable maps for all targets. Really optimizing several maps at the same time would probably take longer than the runs that follow.

3. Pindle and cows

4. See my rant. Just use the questing to level your MF stable one after another.|||I think it sounds like a great way to play. Yes, its not the most efficient but if you enjoy playing and items finds are just a nice bonus, or, as you mentioned, you not pushing for absolute efficiency anyways, go for it.

I've actually seen this as a long term goal too. To build a build that could hit a number of areas and bosses comprising something closer to a half hour run rather than a ton of 30 second runs.|||Quote:

I've done this and have various characters built and sometimes named for their various targets, so I can switch characters when I get tired of the same target. It allows map seed optimization as well. Sometimes it's kind of nice to return to an earlier character and target and see the old familiar route to Meph for example.|||Quote:

2) Perfect map does exists (I can post one if you want to see it) but very hard to find but you can get 2 targets quite easily (especially meph/something) so decide which ones you want to run and reroll the maps until you get a good one.

3) Actually blizz sorc is capable to run every boss in game except diablo. When you kill andy every monster near her will die too so no problem there with CI's, baal is more tricky but I guess you can reroll the game if you get tough combination.|||I used to do what I call a "poor mans Baal run"--AT/Meph with a bliz sorc.

Map was weighted to AT efficiency but with reasonable teles to Meph.

It was a great way to generate drops each run although Meph is ultimately a limiting factor. Moved on to WSK/Baal eventually.

I personally would keep LK separate because there isnt a MF component (at least nothing that you have to work at). I actually use a 200FCR barb (see sirpoops build) with a mostly open inventory. I usually fill it in one or two runs.

In the end, dual sorc builds are probably best for multi targets, although Fabian's pit runner might serve as well for the rich...|||I guess if I'd be doing that I'd do Meph then Pindle then AT. Should be possible to find a decent map for those.

In general I like to have about 3 characters equipped at once. And switch them when I get bored. But I get where you're coming from.
