Chosen Bosses Tournament Thread

This tournament will be a test of patience, luck, and strategic planning of item drops to maximize your future luck, or lack thereof to utilize the boss drops in ways to benefit you.

General tournament rules will apply as such:

1. Hardcore (Soft may join, but will retire after one death)

2. Any difficulty, 1.13 may use respecs.

3. RWM/CRM may be used

4. Single pass except on boss runs as noted

5. Any player setting, cheese is accepted.

6. No save and exit to avoid death

7. Atma/Gomule are allowed as extended stash

8. No outside twinking(though it probably doesn't need to be said)

9. Quest need not be completed. You may go back to a previous difficulty or act to use town functions and turn in or obtain rewards for previous completed quest in previous difficulties or acts. (Utilize socket quest for example will be useful in this tournament)

10. There will be no class restrictions or mercenary restrictions.

11. No restricted skills or stats.

12. Equipment is restricted to "boss drops" only before entering Act 2 NM, see specific rules for details.

Specific tournament rules are: 15 acts = 15 bosses, means lots of killing of these bosses in order to continue on to the next act.

Starting with Normal your boss slaying increases by one each time as such:

Normal Andariel: 1 run.

Normal Duriel: 2 runs.

Normal Mephisto: 3 runs.

NM Andariel: 6 runs.

NM Duriel 7 runs.

NM Mephisto: 8 runs.

NM Diablo: 9 runs.

NM Baal: 10 runs.

Hell Andariel: 11 runs.

Hell Duriel: 12 runs.

Hell Mephisto: 13 runs.



and so on until Hell difficulty ending:

Hell Diablo: 14 runs.

Hell Baal: 15 runs.

You may re-run any area aligned with act Boss though risk of death versus gains may not be something your willing to do:

Andariel: Catacombs level 2,3, and 4.

Duriel: The Specific Tomb and Canyon on the Magi

Mephisto: Durance of Hate level 2 and 3

Diablo: River of Flame Waypoint heading towards Chaos Sanctuary (No back tracking from Waypoint)

Baal: Worldstone Keep Levels 2,3, and 4.

Equipment rule:

Starting at the end of your six Andariel and before you enter Act 2 NM, all your equipment must be boss drops only. I would suggest keeping a seperate stash for anything that came off a boss from beginning of Act 1 normal, because those Andariel gems may come in handy.

Example #1:

1. I have equipped Armor, helm, shield, belt, and weapon. On one of my Nightmarel Baal run he drops a chipped ruby.

2A. I can cycle this up to a perfect Ruby to use in my equipment.

3B. I can use the 3 chipped gems recipe to make myself a weapon and utilize that.

3C. I can make a perfect ruby, and then craft a Blood item.

3D. I can equip it in a blank socketable and place that item on. ( I can go back to a previous difficulty/act to purchase that socketable if I do not have one in my inventory/stash or extended stash such as Atma or Gomule)

Either of those options make that item utilized as a boss drop.

1. NM Mephisto drops an Amn rune.

2. I have a 4 socket sword from that I saved incase I found a rune I needed to make "Spirit" sword.

3. I use the rune and now have a "Spirit Sword" that uses that Chosen item from Mephisto.

1. NM Duriel drops a Magical bone shield.

2. I use the 3 perfect gems recipe to reroll it until it becomes something worthy of use.

3. You can use it.





Only waypoints required are the following Five:

Catacombs Level 2(Nightmare, Hell only, normal you do not have to get since Andariel is ran only once on Normal)

Canyon of the Magi

Durance of Hate level 2

River of Flame

Worldstone Keep Level 2



Scoring as such:

Each boss kill yields 1 point. No other points need to be counted.

Final value for completed tournament will be: 120.|||I'll start it off with a druid named Bull.

The ring was almost as good as a rare ring I was already wearing, so I just swapped those out. The second run was incredibly disappointing, so I put the skull cap on my merc. Not only is he a loyal tank, but he protects me from bad equipment too!



NDE: Claw Vipers in the Claw Viper Temple's bottom room knocked me down to 30hps and killed my merc before I could dislodge myself and put up a TP. I was too confident and ran past the vipers so I could kill Guardians first, and that gave the claw vipers ample opportunity to surround me. Act 2 normal is a bit early in the game for an NDE, so I better play a bit smarter.|||Update

Because of the uninspiring Duriel drops, I decided to run Meph on /p7. Although my merc died more than I'd like, I was rewarded with some decent lowbie items. I was able to replace the rare belt I got from Andariel, and although I wasn't too happy with Meph's second drop, the third run turned out to be clutch, and I got a Milabrega's Orb outta the deal. With any luck the extra MF will allow me to run future bosses at /p5 or even /p3.

Btw, anyone else playing?|||Bull ravaged act 1 quite fast. Level 12 hit and fissure was on. Fissure is extremely powerful early on as its got a great aoe, duration, and mana cost is easily overcame.

Andariel dropped: rare: scimitar, sabre, helm, ring. A ruby and chipped topaz.

The ring went on as it was the best of all the items, with +4 life, 13LR, 11PR. Not horrible not great, but good enough.

|||Bull continued his way through Act 2 this afternoon, finally smashing Duriel in the face two times.

Running a Fissure elemental druid with 3 Dire Wolves(+3 dire wolves helm for a total of level 6 makes them quite hard to take down)

Using a Cold Rogue mercenary with the following:

Eth Biggin's Bonnet, Witherstring, and a 3os ring mail with +8max damage jewel and a rare one with +20psn/over2 and +4min. She deals roughly 100 damage and guns down quite fast due to Witherstring's +30%IAS.



His drops were quite horrible.

Run #1: Rare Claymore equipped to switch

Run #2: Magical Long Staff replacing Rare Claymore on switch.

Thankfully a weapon dropped that last run otherwise it was a choice of two semi-decent armors that pale compared to Stealth.

Not sure if I have time to make it to Act4 tonight, but most likely not.

[/QUOTE]|||I am starting off with a Sorc named Cersei. Act 1 was quite fun, fireball does decent damage and by pumping firebolt I was able to keep the mana cost fairly reasonable (I also spent a bit of time smacking monsters in the head with an axe). I had some decent drops, picking up a nagel ring (17%) and gambling a hand of broc.

Andy dropped a falchion, skull cap and ring mail (all rare), Skull, chipped topaz, chipped sapphire. I equiped the falchion (on switch)

|||@Vang, thanks I thought it was a good way for me to remember which item was equipped when (so that I don't accidently remove something)

Cersei has continued through Act2 blasting things down with fireball (with a +3 fireball leaf staff). She is currently saving her skill points for Frozen Orb, which will hopefully become available in Act 3.

Duriel dropped a Magic Broad Axe, Rare Crystal Sword, Rare Long Sword and a Rare Morning Star on the first run. The morning star was equiped replacing the Weapon previously equipped from Andy.

On the second run through he dropped a rare claymore, a magic long sword, a rare eth balanced axe and a magic war scepter. None of the items were equipable as cersei does not meet the required stats.
