I was watching a video from a SPFer who was on his last few Baal runs before 99, and it seemed like he had a hotkey to select the difficulty after he selected his character.
Is there a built in hotkey, or some legal mod used to make a hotkey to select your difficulty? Would be incredible for speeding up my runs.|||I decided to gamble my nice seed and I figured it out.
For anyone like me that didn't know when you click your character and the difficluty selection comes up you can use these hotkeys to quickly select your difficulty. I think it also makes it less scary of messing up your seed by clicking the wrong difficulty! =P
R = Normal
N = Nightmare
H = Hell|||Nice find! This never occurred to me before. Will be helpful with runs!|||It is a good trick but I don't generally find it to save me much time. The other issue is that H and N are right next to eachother (thanks blizz) So there is still a good risk of messing it up.
If you ever mis-click just go in to the task manager and kill the game, when you restart it you will still have your old seed.|||Thanks for the additional tip kestegs! I ruined a seed earlier today and wish I knew that then. (By clicking, not by the hotkey!)
As for the hotkey of H/N being close I agree. Usually there is a small bit of downtime between when I press Save & Exit, until it goes back to the main menu. I use that time to glance down and make sure I finger the right key so I don't typo.
I feel it saves me a bit of time as soon as I double click my hero i'm pressing the key to automatically load the game. But i guess it comes down to preference. I prefer to use my keyboard rather than my mouse in this situation.|||Quote:

This used to work for me in XP, but I get some sort of access denied message when trying to do that in win7. Anyone know the reason and/or a remedy for this?|||Click "Show processes from all users" and try again.|||Quote:

That did it. Thanks. Now I won't be losing any more maps

if you are doing runs, I like also using Enter instead of double-clicking for character selection. Note: this will only work good for runs & if you do not fiddle with other chars in ATMA/GoMule between runs, as the game defaults highlight to the last .d2s file saved.|||I like doing "enter, H" too. For me it's much easier to make sure my finger is on the H than it is to try to quickly quick on "Hell" without misclicking.
