1.08 Questions

Hi there

I just started running 1.08 Andy and then noticed I completely forgot about the merc. Then I thought "Hmm a NM Act2 Defensive would be great for safety", then his aura doesn't show and I comment that, and Paradigmshift says that probably 1.08 merc auras are broken like in 1.07... I'm a sad panda.

The merc died fast, before I spend the few money I have in 1.08 testing him more, if someone played 1.08 can you help me these:

- Are the merc's auras indeed broken?

- Is LL also broken?

- Act5 mercs still have the metabolism of a hummingbird like in 1.07?



Also, I just moved a Rattlecage from 1.07 to 1.08 and Hit Causes Monster to Flee just dropped from 49% to 38%

Merc Aura's do seem to work...but it always seems to be the normal/hell aura...the NM defensive guy did NOT have holy freeze, but Defiance...haven't tested the offensive/combat mercs yet, though

LL on merc's still doesn't do anything, as far as I can tell...you DO see the red 'swirly' on the merc, but like in 1.07, its just a visual effect...I watched my merc hit a mob about half a dozen times with a 4%LL halberd, and it didn't budge his hitpoints one bit...maybe with higher %LL, but I doubt it.

Act 5 mercs still have that awesome regen, though!

Do note that the XP for mercs was scaled up to be much closer to the PC, so if you forward a 1.07 character to 1.08, their merc will lose a LOT of levels...(I saw one go from like 80ish in 1.07 to about 45ish in 1.08...)

Not sure what's going on with the HCMtF mod on Rattlecage, but you should keep in mind that crushing blow was nerfed HARD in 1.08 vs 1.07...PI counts vs CB in 1.08, physical resistance is also fully effective vs it, and ranged CB is no longer at full effect...it does still ramp up with higher /player settings if you MP, though.

WoRG|||The auras do seem to take their time to pop in, but, before he was easily killed again ^^, my merc did show his defiance aura.

So the auras are the same in Normal, NM and Hell? That's a shame.

I guess I'll just hire a Hell Act5 Merc. Many thanks for your feedback.



I'm not counting much on the CB. I was just a merc that doesn't die often (to not not make my runs slower) and helps the runs to be safer (the reason I was hoping for the Holy Freeze).

Surprisingly the lvl 33 merc one hit kills most basic monsters. So I just have to make him not die, and attack faster. So getting a Hell Act5 Merc and giving him an eth 6os elite sword with Shae Runes and Perfect Diamonds (I'll have to check if most monsters in Andy's room are undead tho), along with Rattlecage and some helm (Guillame's must be overkill), might be just what I need (something to be a good bait and kill the FI, since I can kill Andy fast as long as I don't have to worry about the other monsters - and I'm trying to avoid having to pick a second skill).|||On more testing, the NM A2Offensive mercs do in fact have the Might aura! I didn't see him switching it back and forth like the 1.07 guys, either, so one of those would be nice for a melee char...not sure if it would be as good for your sorc, though, since it won't help him leech.

Still haven't tested the Combat guy for thorns, yet, but that may work as well...

I did notice that it took a loooooong time for the NM A2defensive merc to activate his aura, but the hell defensive merc and the NM offensive merc were a lot quicker to do so....might have just been luck, but that's what I noticed...

WoRG|||Well, if both our NM Act2 Defensive Mercs took a long time to do it, they might be really bugged. Or it was just a coincidence yeah.

Quick question, in 1.07 this Merc has which aura (not working and flashing)?



I tried some runs with an act5 Merc, he dies easily I'll have to give him better gear or just pick a second skill for the sorc ^^
