Leveling Druids 24-49

So I have this thing, where I've went through Normal about 40-50 times and I don't seem to enjoy it so much as I used to. Go figure.

So I have this routine.

1-14 - big hammer with -90% requirements

15-24(-27) - 1.09 Ravenclaw

And then I like to change to something else, because by mid-A3 1.09 RC is not cutting it for me. I mean, it can work fine, and it does, but as I said, after some 40 times through Normal, it gets boring. I mean, as long as it takes 2 arrow per mob, I'm fine. When it starts to be 4-5 arrows per mob, my psyche snarls and demands something better.

- Now, for Amazons, I can synergize the RC.

- Same with Paladins (Holy Fire).

- Sorceress gets blizzard at 24 and as soon as moron gets 'Insight' at 27 she takes of like a F-16.

- Sins get BoS which makes RC more bearable until LS is good enough at 29 with SoJs, so that I don't mind.

- Necros are tricky but Skellies+CE+Amp+Meditation of course rule the universe in Normal, and at 30 we get Poison Nova + 2SoJ, etc.

- Barbs get Frenzy and 2x 'Honor' -> Butcher's -> 'Oath' gets the job done very well, WW as an option

Thing is, I've got no clue what to do to make playing a Druid bearable till 42-49. I know many will say Ribcracker Fury, which is fine, but at early levels I get hit a lot, Fury gets interrupted. I'm never gonna be patient enough to try and avoid that in Normal, or cast a bear and stand behind it or something. I mean, just no. I want to be a powerhouse stopping for nothing and Fury just doesn't cut it. All the fire skills are just annoyingly unreliable. I mean, I haven't really tried them all properly, but they all seem like such a pain to make sure they hit something. And hurricane is only available at 30, I'd like to get something sooner.

So how do I level a druid from level 24-27 if I don't wanna do it via Fury?

--Greebo|||I have also gotten tired of Normal leveling and I mostly play in 1.12, where there is no respec. So I'm a big fan of self-MPing with an Enchantress and using Ravenclaw for just about any class. If you don't want MP-ing, for a druid, maybe a FC bear or wolf is fast enough, using a multi-Shael'd repeating crossbow. Shael has a level requirement of 29 and a bear with a 5-shael repeating crossbow gets to 5fpa. That'll move nicely through normal, certainly.|||I second the nomination for the Enchantress. An Enchantress at level 50-55 with junk gear can give your Ravenclaw 1500-2000 damage (carries over to the explosion). Give her decent gear, and it's not that hard to get double that or more. You say you want to be a powerhouse. You won't find any druid (or any other class) skills at level 24 that are going to give you 2k damage on an AOE.

Otherwise, Fire Claws + Bonesnap? I don't really know, just throwing out an idea.|||1) Early game levelling is much better with envy items than one big hammer that strikes once per minute. Just sayin'

2) As far as your problem goes: Fissure. Assuming you use the respecs, of course.|||Quote:

/amen|||Or powerlevel yourself using two diablo instances |||fire druid owns hell. or a maul werebear and just run with the right click held down to maul anything in range|||Quote:

This. Because of last collide it's only effective against groups, but against those it really is effective Firestorm is surprisingly powerful against smaller groups or single monsters|||Cool ideas, everyone!

Big Hammer vs. Envy

I tried both and I stick by the hammer. As soon as you get to level 6 (which happens in Cold Plains) and Death Set kicks in, it gets much better. I mean, Envy is a valid option, but I think it's a bit slow, with the time it takes for monsters to die. And further arrows don't help any, which is annoying to me. The Hammer works just fine till level 15, which I get at the bottom of the Tower.

Enchantress

If I do that, I might as well rush myself. May as well join b.net. It wouldn't feel like a proper Mat/Pat if I did that. Not to me. I will if I hafta, but I'd rather not.

Fissure

I'm trying it right now, it's pretty cool. I like it enough with cast-shoot-shoot-cast-...

Fire Claws

The German calculator says that a Chu-Ko-Nu with 5x Shael should give 4fpa as a bear at 29, so I'm gonna do that. Cool idea, purplelocust, thanks!

I was thinking that Khalim's Flail will work good as well, but the calc says I won't get better than 8fpa as a bear, which sucks. I mean it's a -10 weapon with 50 IAS for cryin out loud. So yeah, I think I will do Fissure+RC until 29 and then switch to 4fpa Fireclaws bear. Cool.

Thanks for the replies!

(except for you corax , you didn't read my post )|||it's true. i really didn't.

i didn't read it again either but i'm assuming you have no love for the bear/maul combo.

i see now. and for normal a bonesnapped followed by a steeldriver followed by an upped shael'd steeldriver will get a mauler/furier into NM
